Description

Nos 119 to 123 on Gigant Street are early to mid 19th century buildings. Nos 119 and 121 are a pair of three-storey red brick houses with hipped slate roofs and flat eaves. Each house has two windows on every floor, featuring recessed sashes with later glazing and flat stucco arches. The entrances are on the ground floor, with four-panel doors framed by narrow pilasters and topped with leaded cornice hoods.

No 123, which is a public house, occupies a corner site with Barnard Street. This corner block is also three storeys high and has a two-storey wing that connects to Nos 119 and 121. The upper floors of the corner block are red brick, while the ground floor is stuccoed with banded rustication. It has a low hipped slate roof with flat eaves and a tiled gable end roof for the wing.

The corner block features three windows on the upper floors, with the centre window being blind, and all have recessed sashes with intact glazing bars and flat stucco arches. The wing has two windows on the first floor, also with recessed sashes and later glazing. A moulded cornice and frieze adorn the ground floor, which has six windows with later sashes and a panelled and glazed door. There are double panelled and glazed doors set across the cornice. The return front to Barnard Street has two windows; the first floor is stuccoed, while the ground floor mirrors the Gigant Street facade with two windows and a panelled and glazed door.
