Description
St Martin's House, located at 49 St Anne's Street, is a 18th-century building that stands three storeys tall. It is constructed of red brick and features a projecting plinth, moulded brick bands between the storeys, a moulded brick cornice, and a tall parapet with stone coping. The roof is covered with old tiles. The upper floors have four windows with recessed sashes that retain their glazing bars, all topped with rubbed brick arches. On the ground floor, there are three similar windows and a door with six fielded panels located to the right. This door has a rectangular fanlight with marginal glazing and a diamond centre, set within a doorcase that includes panelled pilasters, cross-reeded scroll brackets, a moulded cornice, and a pediment. To the right, there is a lower extension that lacks a parapet and has one similar window. The west front of the building is tile hung, with brick at the north end, and features two delicate 19th-century rectangular bay windows with leaded lights. St Martin's House is part of a group with No 51.
