Description

ST ANNE'S STREET 1. 1594 (South Side) Nos 56 & 58 (Joiners Hall) SU 1429 NE 4/171 28.2.52. GV 2. Early C17 front. The property of the National Trust acquired in 1898. 3 storey, 2 gabled front. Timber frame and plaster infilling, old tile roof. 1 3-light casement window in each gable at 2nd floor level. Moulded cornice across building at foot of gables. 2 tall 15-light moulded and panelled wood mullioned and transomed rectangular bays with narrow lights at right angles. Each supported on 3 carved figure brackets - 1st floor level. Heavy carved beam under oversailing 1st floor 2 panelled doors flanking 2 9 light mullioned and transomed windows bracketed forward on ground floor. All windows have modern leaded lights, with octagonal pattern. Very little survives internally.

Nos 44 to 74 (even) and Nos 78 to 82 (even) form a group.
