Description
The Wheatsheaf Inn is an early 19th-century building located on Oving Road. It is two storeys high, with No 64 constructed of red brick, while Nos 65 and 66 feature grey headers with red brick dressings and vertical lacing courses. No 64 has two windows, and Nos 65 and 66 each have one window and one blocked opening. Together, these properties form an L shape and have a tiled roof with a small cornice supported by modillions below the eaves. Nos 65 and 66 are fitted with sash windows that have flush boxes and rubbed brick voussoirs, while No 64 has windows set in shallow reveals with wooden lintels, and the glazing bars remain intact. The ground floor of No 64 has been partially cut away to accommodate the public house entrance. Nos 65 and 66 feature doorways in moulded frames with cornices above. Notably, No 65 displays the date 1816 and the bricklayer's name in an ogee-shaped plaque on the first floor.
