Description

Leper's Cottage is a late 18th century cottage located on the site of St James' Hospital, which was established for people affected by leprosy during the reign of Henry I and was destroyed by fire in 1781. The north wall of the cottage incorporates part of the old hospital's structure. The front of the cottage is plastered, and it features a thatched roof. Small casement windows with pointed segmental heads and Gothic divisions are present. A tablet on the cottage provides information about its history.
