Description
26 and 29 St Pancras are a range of 18th century cottages located on the north-west side of St Pancras. The buildings are two storeys tall with an attic, featuring one window and one dormer each, except for No 29, which has three window bays and three dormers. The dormers are modern, except for the one in No 28. The cottages have a tiled gabled roof divided into two sections, with a slightly higher ridge line towards the eastern end. They are constructed of red brick with some grey headers and have a brick stringcourse above the ground floor. Nos 28 and 29 feature a coved cornice. The windows are primarily sash windows, with Nos 26 and 27 having modern windows with segmental arches, while the glazing bars remain intact. Nos 28 and 29 have windows in flat arches, with rendered or painted lintels over the first-floor windows, and rubbed brick voussoirs and brick voussoirs over the ground floor windows. In No 29, a modern three-light sash window has been inserted in the easternmost bay, with all glazing bars intact. Nos 26 and 27 have modern doorcases featuring fluted pilasters with friezes and rectangular pediments above, while No 28 has a small flat hood on plain brackets. The doors are either modern or original panelled doors with the upper parts cut away and glazed.
