Description

A row of four cottages located on Bridge Street, Polesworth, dating to the 17th century, with alterations from the 19th and late 20th centuries. The cottages are timber-framed with brick infill, and areas have been rebuilt in brick. The roof is covered in plain tiles, with 20th-century brick stacks. Each cottage originally had a single-unit plan, with later additions. They are arranged as one storey and attic, with a five-window range. Number 30, on the left, is largely faced in whitewashed 19th-century brick. It features a plank door and a two-light casement window with glazing bars, both set within brick segmental arches. A half-dormer has a two-light, 20th-century casement window. Number 28 has late 20th-century roughcast rendering and two two-light dormers. Numbers 28 and 26 have modern doors and casement windows with glazing bars, and entrance to a passage. A 20th-century brick internal stack is located between numbers 28 and 26. Number 26 also has late 20th-century roughcast infill and a small 20th-century two-light dormer. Number 24 displays 19th and 20th-century brick infill, a 19th-century plank door, and the ground floor features two 19th/20th-century cross-glazed two-light casement windows, with a single-light casement above. The ridge and right corner stacks are of 19th-century brick. The right return side has imitation ashlar render. An 18th/19th-century wing extends to the rear. The interiors have not been inspected.
