Description
White Gates and Annes Cottage, located at 3 Church Walk, is a cottage that has been converted into two dwellings. It dates from the 18th century and early 19th century. The building is constructed of colourwashed brick and features a thatched roof. It is a single storey with an attic and consists of two bays, with No 3 being an added third bay that includes a rear wing on the right, which has been further extended with a back kitchen and a gallery above.
White Gates has a half-glazed door on the left side, while No 3 has a boarded door. The windows are paned casements, and there is one flush dormer above the central bay. The thatched roof has a hipped return to the rear wing. Additionally, White Gates has been extended into an early 20th-century brick structure on the left, which is not considered of special interest. It is noted that No 3 is said to have been a weaver's cottage, and the gallery in the back wing is a remnant of this original use.
