Description

Milestone, circa 1815. Made of painted limestone, it has a half-cylinder shape that returns to a square at the base. The top is grooved. The original inscription, which is now illegible and heavily overpainted, reads: SWINDON 9, HUNGERFORD 7, and on the foot, TO LONDON, 72 Miles.
