ALDBOURNE SOUTH STREET (west side) SU 27 NE 9/71 Milestone opposite Malt House

Milestone, c1815. Painted limestone. Half cylinder section returning to square at base. Grooved top. Inscription originally incised, illegible and much over painted, reading: SWINDON 9, HUNGERFORD 7, and on foot, TO LONDON, 72 Miles.
