Description
The outbuilding to the rear of No 11 South Street is a former fustian mill dating from the early 19th century. It features a facade of diaper brickwork on a brick and sarsen structure, topped with a slate roof. Originally believed to be three stories tall, it has been reduced to two stories and consists of five bays, with a depth of one bay. The central entrance has sliding doors, while the end bays contain round-headed doors. Both floors have short segmental-headed 8-pane sash windows. The building has a hipped roof with a wide overhang and two ridge ventilators. This outbuilding is a remnant of a once significant industry in the village, which operated from 1660 until around 1880.
