Description

This milestone, located on the Aldbourne to Swindon Road, dates from the early 19th century and is made of limestone. It features a half cylindrical shaft with a grooved top and base, although the base is not visible. The original incised inscription is now difficult to read, but it has been repainted to indicate directions: on the left side, it reads "TO SWINDON 8," and on the right side, "TO HUNGERFORD, 8."
