Description

This milestone, located approximately 200 meters east of The Black Dog, dates from the late 18th century. It is made of limestone and features a half-round top. The front of the pillar is inscribed with the lettering: SARUM / XII / HINDON / IV. This milestone marks the turnpiked road from Wilton to West Knoyle, which was established between 1760 and 1762.
