Description
This milestone, located near the parish boundary with Donhead St. Andrew, dates from the late 18th century. It is made of limestone and has a pentagonal shape, featuring two faces that face the road. One side indicates the distance to Shaftesbury as five miles, while the other shows the distance to Salisbury as fifteen miles. The road it marks was turnpiked between 1787 and 1788, replacing an earlier route along the ridgeway.
