Milestone. Late C18. Limestone pentagonal pillar with two faces towards road: To / Shaston / V and To / Sarum / XV. The Salisbury to Shaftesbury road was turnpiked 1787-8, to replace an earlier road along the ridgeway. (VCH; Wiltshire, Vol. 4, 1959).
