Milestone. Late C18. Limestone pentagonal pillar with two faces towards road; To / Shaston / VI and To / Sarum / XIV. The Salisbury to Shaftesbury road was turnpiked 1787-8, to replace an earlier road along the ridgeway. (VCH Wiltshire Vol. 4, 1959).
