Description

This is a milestone located about 200 meters east of the drive to Lower Hurdcott Farm, dating from the late 18th century. It is made of limestone and has a triangular shape with two faces oriented towards the road. The left face features incised lettering that reads "To / SARUM / VII," while the right face states "To / Shaston / XIII." This milestone marks the turnpiked road from Salisbury to Shaftesbury, which was established between 1787 and 1788.
