Description

This milestone, located about 150 meters west of West Farm, dates from the late 18th century. It is made of limestone and has a triangular-section pillar with two faces facing the road. The left face features incised lettering that reads "To / Sarum / X," while the right face has the inscription "To / Shaston / X." This milestone marks the turnpiked road from Salisbury to Shaftesbury, which was established between 1787 and 1788.
