Description

Hillside Farmhouse is a detached house dated 1744, as indicated by the keystone above the door. The building is constructed of dressed limestone and features a tiled roof with gable-end rendered stacks. It has a double-pile, parallel range plan and stands two stories tall with three windows across the front.

The central entrance consists of a four-panelled door with a fanlight, set within a beaded stone case that has an elliptically-arched shape, complete with a keystone and impost. Flanking the door are a one-light window and a three-light beaded mullioned window on either side. On the first floor, there are three two-light beaded mullioned windows.

On the right side of the house, there is a two-light mullioned window on the front range and two small sash windows on the rear range, with matching windows on the first floor. The left side features a two-light mullioned window on the first floor and an attached 20th-century single-storey flat-roofed extension. The rear of the house has a half-glazed door with a flat wooden hood supported by consoles, flanked by two 15-pane sash windows. The first floor has five 12-pane sash windows, which have reset carved stone aprons adorned with swags.

Inside, the farmhouse includes a newel staircase with three turned balusters per tread, doors featuring six panels with a central bead, and marble fireplace surrounds.
