Description
Middle Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with significant alterations made in the early 19th century. The building is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone and features a slate roof with limestone gable end coping, along with artificial stone and ashlar stacks. The main structure is rectangular, with a 19th-century extension at the rear left and an outshut at the rear right.
The facade has two storeys and an attic, which is illuminated by two-light roof dormers fitted with 20th-century wooden casements. The front has three windows, consisting of two and three-light metal casements with horizontal glazing bars set within segmental headed surrounds. There is an off-centre left entrance featuring a part-glazed early 20th-century door, which is sheltered by a gabled porch roof supported by timber.
Notable features include a blocked stone-mullioned window in the right gable end and another on the first floor at the rear. The gable end coping is flat, and there is a twin-flue stack on the right gable end with moulded capping and skirting. The left gable end stack is made of 20th-century artificial stone, replacing a former ashlar stack. The interior has not been inspected.
