Description
Arundell Farmhouse is a coaching inn that has been converted into a farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century. The building features a Flemish bond brick front with stone quoins and rubble stone returns, topped by a hipped roof made of Welsh slate and brick stacks. It has a square plan with a rear service wing. The farmhouse is two stories high and has three windows with sash frames. The central entrance consists of double 6-panelled doors set in a pedimented porch supported by plain stone columns, with canted bays on either side that contain 16-pane sashes. A plat band runs along the first floor, where there are 16-pane sashes flanking a 12-pane sash window. The right side of the building has three 12-pane sashes and a large 18-pane sash that lights the stairs, along with a plat band and a sash window on the first floor. The left side features a gabled porch with a segmental-headed planked door leading to the cellars, as well as sashes on both the ground and first floors. The rear service wing is also two stories and has sash windows, along with attached outhouses that include a former brewhouse. Inside, the farmhouse has 6-panelled doors with moulded architraves, a staircase with stick balusters, and large cellars. It was formerly known as the Glove Inn.
