Description
Hope Cottage is a row of two cottages located on the east side of High Street in Collingbourne Ducis, dating from the mid-18th century. The cottages are constructed of coursed flint with brick dressings and brick elements, topped with a thatched roof. They are two storeys high and consist of four bays, with the left bay being an addition. The entrance to No 49 features a glazed gabled porch, while No 50 has a boarded door. Both cottages have timber casement windows with segmental arches over the lower openings. The extension is rendered and includes a boarded door set in a heavy frame, along with a hipped roof. A stack on the right gable has been rebuilt in buff brickwork with flint panels. There is an outshut at the rear, and a single-storey thatched wing extends from the back of the left bay. The interior is said to contain remains of wall decoration, although this has not been seen.
