Description
Linden Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of flint with brick dressings, while the rear wall is timber framed. The cottage features a thatched roof and is single storey with an attic, comprising four bays. The entrance is located between the second and third bays, with the main living room on the left and a service room on the right. The door is set in a heavy chamfered oak frame, and above it is a datestone that reads R / WE / 1694, framed in chamfered brick. The windows are timber paned casements with soldier course lintels, and there are three flush dormers. A gable stack is positioned on the left side, and the roof is hipped to the right, leading to a one bay rear wing that includes a stack and an end lean-to. There is an outshut under the continuation of the roof at the rear. Inside, the cottage features a timber lintel over an open gable fireplace, as well as a second fireplace located on the rear wall of the right bay before the rear wing.
