Description

Poplar Row is a row of six cottages, built in 1797 in Collngbourne Ducis. The cottages are constructed of flint with brick detailing, and have a 20th-century tiled roof. Each cottage is one bay wide, with a side entrance, and the cottages are alternately handed. Originally, the entrances had boarded doors with a single light, of which only one remains, at No. 24. Timber windows with panes are set within segmental brick arches on the ground floor. A central brick datestone reads "W. Blatch / June 20 / 1797." The eaves are embellished with brick dentil moulding. Chimneys are paired on the party walls between the cottages. The roof is hipped on the right-hand side. The cottages are noted for their early architectural detail.
