Description

No. 54 High Street is a house positioned at right angles to the road, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of flint with brick dressings and features a thatched roof. The building is single storey with attics and consists of three bays, following a lobby entry plan. The central entrance has a boarded door, and there are timber casement windows along with two flush dormers. The roof is half hipped towards the road. On the west gable, there is a cob lean-to store, and at the rear, a two-storey, one-bay block made of chalkstone or cob connects the building with No. 55. Inside, the house includes a chamfered spine beam and a timber fire lintel.
