Description
Farthings is a house located on High Street in Collingbourne Ducis, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is timber framed with wattle and daub, and has a brick facade. The rear outshut is constructed of flint with brick dressings. The building is single storey with an attic and consists of two bays with a gable fireplace, and has been extended by a third bay to the east, which is also heated. The entrance is now located in a 20th-century porch on the west gable of a single storey outbuilding. The main bay features 20th-century leaded windows and one flush dormer. Inside, the house has framing with corner braces, a chamfered spine beam in the living room with ogee stops, and a chamfered fire lintel, with the jambs reclad in brick. The inner room includes an inserted angled corner fireplace and an oven at the rear within the outbuilding. The outshut now serves as the kitchen.
