Description

Routs Green Farmhouse is a house dating back to the 17th century, with additions from the 18th and 19th centuries. The original section is timber-framed with brick infill and a flint plinth, while a later bay to the right is brick. 19th-century flint and brick lean-to extensions are attached to the right end and at the rear. The roof is tiled, with a half-hipped section on the right, and a central rendered chimney. The house is one storey and has an attic. The ground floor has 20th-century paired metal casement windows, and paired wooden casements in gabled dormers in the eaves. A central 20th-century half-glazed door is present, along with another 20th-century door in the lean-to to the right. To the left of the house is a weatherboarded barn with a corrugated iron roof, featuring two casements and a central door. The interior of the original section displays curved bracing and has a heavy tie beam arched over the upper fireplace.
