Description

The Old Rectory is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century, with a late 18th-century segmental bay on the left and a right end that was rebuilt in the 20th century. There are 19th-century extensions at the rear. The original two central bays are constructed of red and vitreous brick, featuring a flint plinth and later dentil eaves. The right bays have been rebuilt to match the original style. The late 18th-century bay is made of alternating red and vitreous headers, with a gauged band course at the first floor, a narrow dentil cornice, and a parapet with stone coping. The rear extensions are built from flint and brick, topped with old tile roofs. The late 18th-century bay consists of two tall storeys, each with three sash windows that have fine gauged heads; the ground floor sashes are taller than those on the upper floor. The four bays on the right are two storeys high with an attic, featuring sash windows on the main floors and 20th-century two-light dormers. The sashes have repaired gauged heads, and there is a 20th-century conservatory in the rear angle. Inside, there is a late 18th-century staircase with a moulded handrail and stick balusters, late 18th-century plaster ceiling cornices, and reproduction panelling in the central ground floor room.
