Description
Mount Pleasant is a house dating from the 17th century, which was refronted in the 18th century and has had minor alterations in the 20th century. The building features box timber framing with wattle and daub and brick nogging set on a stone plinth, and it has been refronted in red brick with brick dressings. The roof is covered with plain tiles and includes a central brick ridge stack and a brick stack on the side wall.
The house is two storeys high with two bays, plus a single storey bay to the west and a 20th-century outshut at the rear. It has a lobby entrance plan with a central doorcase that has a segmental head, featuring an 18th-century glazed panelled door. On either side of the door are three-light timber casement windows, also under segmental heads, with the window to the west being lowered in the 19th century. Above these, there are two three-light casement windows at the eaves. The east gable wall displays exposed timber framing with brick nogging. The original wattle and daub plasterwork is still visible where the outshut has been added to the rear.
Inside, the house retains an original stone bracketed fireplace in the ground floor west room and an original staircase located at the back of the chimney stack.
