Description
Badgers Green is a former vicarage, now a house, built in the mid-18th century with alterations made in 1857 and the 20th century. The building is constructed of painted brick with painted stone dressings and features a first-floor band. It has a mid-19th century graduated slate roof with overhanging eaves, brick gable end stacks, and a moulded cornice. The structure is two storeys plus garrets, in an L-plan with three bays.
The central entrance has a doorcase with a double keystoned wedge lintel, which is now covered by an open timber gabled porch from the 19th century, featuring a glazed door and overlight. On either side of the entrance are mid-19th century canted bay windows with glazing bar sashes. Above these are three glazing bar sashes set under incised wedge lintels with double keystones, and each window has louvred shutters.
To the northwest, there are various later additions, while to the southeast is a mid-19th century addition that includes a tripartite glazing bar sash within a moulded shouldered surround, followed by a 19th century conservatory. The interior boasts a turned baluster staircase from the 18th century that spans two floors, featuring ball pendentives in the upper section, along with raised and fielded panelled doors. The 19th century addition to the north contains a complete bread oven in one room, and outside the north door is an elaborate cast iron hand pump.
