Description
This is an earlier 18th-century house situated on The Green. It is constructed of painted brick with a brick band, a moulded brick eaves cornice, and a stone plinth. The roof is covered in Swithland slate and features a right-hand end stack and two ridge stacks. The front façade has two storeys with six tall casement windows, alternating between one-light and two-light designs with top lights. The ground floor windows mirror this pattern, with a square porch (likely added in the 19th century, having a flat roof and moulded brick cornice), a 19th-century canted bay window, and sash windows. Larger windows are topped with cambered lintels. A 20th-century three-light window is on the left end, alongside a 20th-century attic window and windows on a rear extension. A further 20th-century window is on the right end, along with an attic window. The rear features a three-gabled extension to the right, a long one-story outshut, and casement windows, mostly with cambered lintels; two modern dormers are present. Inside, the ceilings retain original beams. The house contributes to the group value with numbers 2 and 4 The Green.
