Description

A long barn dating to the 17th and 19th centuries, situated on the south side of The Green in Anstey. The barn is constructed of a mix of materials: slate and granite rubble stone, timber framing with brick (some in a herringbone pattern), and corrugated iron roofing. The gable end facing the road is stone and contains a blocked opening. The roof is supported by a three-bay queen post truss system. The front and rear have four rows of three square panels, with approximately one-and-a-half bays of timber framing – some of which has been renewed – resting on a stone plinth. To the left of this section are large doors, a stable door, and a window, representing a 19th-century renewal. 19th-century brick walling provides support for the trusses. The barn has group value alongside numbers 4, 2 and 20 The Green.
