Description
No. 2 The Green is a house from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of red brick and sits on a plinth made of slate and granite rubble stone, featuring brick bands and a moulded brick cornice. The roof is made of Swithland slate and has end and central ridge stacks. The house has a gable facing the street and is 2½ storeys high, with four 8/8 sash windows and a 6/6 sash window above the door, which is located to the center right. There are hipped half-dormers above, each with 3-light casements, and a 2-light casement above the 6/6 window. The left side has an 8/8 sash, while the ground floor has 12/12 sashes. The doorcase and door have been renewed and include an overlight. To the left, there is a single-storey 20th-century extension. On the right side facing the Green, there are two ground floor 20th-century round-arched fixed lights, with a similar one above on the right. The basement features a 2-light window and a small frame with a door in the plinth. At the rear, there is a similar fixed light along with other casements. The building has group value with Nos. 4 and 20 The Green.
