Description

No. 1 Groby Road is a house built in 1767. It is constructed of red brick with a part stone plinth, featuring brick dentilled eaves and a Swithland slate roof with end stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan, with a rear wing facing Bradgate Road. It stands three storeys high and has three windows, with three-light casements on either side of the door, which has a two-light window above it; all windows have cambered lintels. The attic features renewed two-light casements. The doorway is framed by a wooden doorcase topped with a flat hood supported by brackets. The right end gable displays a small slate tablet inscribed with "M.H. 1767." The rear wing includes a renewed ground floor three-light casement, an end stack, and a two-light casement in the gable.
