Description
No. 1 Bridge Street is a house dated 1767, constructed from coursed limestone rubble with a plain tile roof, featuring coped gables and brick end stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door, where the upper four panels are glazed, accompanied by a traceried overlight and a hood. The windows are iron-framed casements with overlights and wooden lintels, featuring two lights above the door and three lights elsewhere. There are three hipped dormers; the central one is blind and has a painted sundial, while the flanking dormers have two-light casements. A square stone with a cornice, likely a datestone but now illegible, is set in the left gable end. At the rear, there is a lean-to and a gabled wing, which has been heightened in buff brick and contains a shop. The interior has been altered but still retains a small inglenook fireplace with a plain bressumer in the ground floor left room.
