Description

The property at 1 and 3 West Street in Geddington is likely a 17th-century house, although it has undergone three distinct phases of construction. It is built of squared coursed limestone and coursed limestone rubble, with the left gable end rendered. The roof is thatched, with brick ridge and end stacks. The building is two storeys high. A plinth is visible on the left and centre sections. The left-hand section features a 20th-century door with a wooden lintel, situated slightly left of centre, flanked by three-light casement windows with wooden lintels. Above are two two-light casement windows with wooden lintels, using small panes and hung on iron fittings. The central section has a 20th-century door with a wooden lintel to the left. Both the central and right-hand sections feature a three-light casement window, using small panes and hung on iron fittings, to the ground floor, and a similar two-light window to the first floor, all with wooden lintels. The thatch is carried down over the first-floor windows to give the appearance of eyebrow dormers. The interior has not been inspected.
