Description
10 West Street is a house that was originally a pair of cottages, now combined into one dwelling. The house has an early 19th-century appearance, but the heightening of the front wall suggests it has an earlier origin. It is built from coursed limestone rubble and features a slate roof with brick end stacks. The building has two storeys and a two-window range. The central entrance is a six-panel door with panelled reveals and a hood above. The windows are six-over-six sash style with wooden lintels.
The cottages date from the 18th century and are constructed from coursed ironstone rubble, topped with a 20th-century concrete tile roof. They are two storeys high and consist of a single-fronted handed pair of cottages, each with external doors. The door to the right-hand cottage has been replaced by a two-light small-paned casement window, similar to the original windows, which are distinguished by H-L hinges. The left-hand cottage has a 20th-century door, and there is an alley door to the right made of plain boards. The interiors have not been inspected.
