Description
No. 2 West Street is a house, which was formerly a shop, likely originating from the 17th century and has been altered over time. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with some ironstone and features ashlar dressings. It has been heightened with brick. The slate roof, which was originally thatched, has a coped gable, a brick ridge stack, and a moulded stone end stack. The gable end faces the street and the building is two storeys high with quoins.
The gable end has a three-light, 20th-century small-paned window that replaced a former, slightly wider shop window, and there is a similar two-light window above it. A post box from the General Post Office is set into the wall. The right flank of the building includes a 20th-century door and windows, along with some blocked openings that have wooden lintels. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value with other nearby structures.
