Description
No. 61 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble limestone, squared beneath the eaves, with limestone dressings. The building features a left-hand brick party wall stack and a slate roof. It has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic, presenting a three-window range.
Originally, the front was symmetrical, with quoins, a round-arched doorway that includes a fanlight and a panelled door. The windows have plain flush surrounds and consist of 8/8-pane sashes. There are also two later lead-hung dormers, each with 2/2-pane horned sashes. On the right-hand side, there is a mid-19th century shop front, which includes panelled timber jambs, corner roundels, a fascia, thin mullions, and a left-hand doorway. The roofline has been raised above the first-floor windows. The interior has not been inspected.
