Description

No. 54 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the 18th century and was likely refronted around 1791 when No. 56 was built next door. The building is constructed of roughcast limestone rubble, with a brick stack on the left side and a stone slate roof. It has a single-room plan and is two storeys tall with an attic, featuring a two-window range. The right-hand doorway has a 20th-century glazed door, and there is a 20th-century shop front with glazing bars. The first floor has sash windows with 2/2 panes, and there are dormers with cambered heads. Inside, the layout has been altered, but it includes a right-hand stair flight with a winder stair leading to the attic.
