Description

This is a three-storey house, built in 1894 and now used as a shop. It is located on the east side of High Street, Malmesbury. The exterior is limestone ashlar with brick gable stacks and a stone slate roof. It follows a double-depth plan and has a symmetrical three-window facade. The ground floor features a late 19th-century shop front with pilasters, a fascia, cornice, segmental pediment, and a recessed central doorway with double doors. The left-hand corner has an ovolo-moulded chamfer. Above are two first-floor canted timber oriels, three second-floor windows with 2/1-pane horned sashes, and two gabled casement dormers in the attic. The eaves and verges overhang the facade. The ground-floor interior has been largely altered. The building is included on the list primarily for its contribution to the group value of the listed buildings on High Street.
