Description
Wayside, a cottage dating from around 1800, is constructed of painted red brick with sections of slate rubble stone that are partially rendered. It features a Swithland slate roof and three brick end stacks. The building is in an L shape, with the wing now serving as the entrance facing the street. The original front, which is to the left and adjoins the churchyard, is two storeys high and has a three-light horizontal sliding sash window on both floors, flanking a blocked door with a similar two-light window above it. These windows have cambered lintels and stone sills. On the street side, there is a door with a renewed 20th-century window to the left and another similar window to the right, with a three-light horizontal sliding sash window above.
Adjoining the cottage and the churchyard is a 19th-century stable made of granite and slate rubble stone with red brick, topped with a Swithland slate roof. The stable features doors with a rounded arched lintel and two casement windows above that face the rear yard, along with a two-light casement window overlooking the churchyard. Surrounding two sides of the yard is a granite and slate rubble stone wall with stone coping and two end piers.
