Description
No. 55 on Church Lane is a house built around 1800, originally designed as a pair of houses. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring brick-bracketed eaves and a slate roof with end stacks. The building has three storeys, with three sash windows on each of the ground and first floors, all topped with gauged brick lintels. The windows include tripartite 6/6 sashes, with 4/4 sashes in the center above an earlier 19th-century pair of doorcases that form one unit. The doors are part-glazed and are located on either side of a blocked original doorway, which retains a rounded arch and fanlight. Inside, there are chamfered ceiling beams.
