Description
No. 8 The Green is a house that dates mainly from the late 18th century, though it may have an earlier core. It is constructed of painted brick and has a Swithland slate roof. The building is three stories tall and has two bays, featuring a late 19th-century shop window on the left. The architrave of the shop window is decorated with recessed panels and paired brackets supporting a fascia board, which is further adorned with a dentilled frieze. To the right of the shop window is a doorway with a door that has an overlight, set within a moulded architrave and supported by consoles beneath a flat canopy. To the right of the doorway is a 4-light sash window, with two additional sash windows above it, all featuring cambered heads. The attic storey has 2-light casements. There are various straight joints between Nos. 6 and 8, as well as in the middle of No. 8 and around its windows, indicating significant alterations to an earlier structure. The house has gable end stacks.
