Description
No. 57 High Street is a house that likely has its origins in the early 17th century. It features rough cast render over a timber frame, set on a plinth, and is topped with a thatched roof. The building is 1½ storeys tall and has a three-unit plan, with one bay to the right of the doorway, which is framed by a moulded wood architrave. To the right, there is a 3-light horizontally sliding sash window. To the left of the doorway, there are two 3-light casement windows with small panes and an upper central opening light, followed by a 2-light casement window. The gable wall also contains two additional casement windows. The front elevation is supported by two pilaster buttresses and features two eyebrow dormers, each with 2-light casement windows. The gable has barge boards, and the interior includes various stud partitions and a chamfered spine beam. The house has both gable and axial stacks.
