Description
No. 4 The Green is an 18th-century timber-framed house that is plastered and features a red brick front with a rebuilt parapet and a moulded brick string course above the windows. The building has two storeys and attics, with a three-window range consisting of double-hung sashes with glazing bars set in plain reveals, topped with gauged brick flat arches. A central six-panel door is complemented by a semi-circular fanlight with ornamental glazing bars and a decorative doorcase featuring fluted pilasters, panelled reveals, and an open pediment with ornamentation. The roof is tiled, hipped, and double-pitched, with two segmental-headed dormer windows on the west and east sides. The front of the house is enclosed by early 19th-century wrought iron railings, along with a gate and gateposts. The listed buildings surrounding The Green, including Nos 8, 10, 38, 52, and 25, collectively form a group of local interest.
