Description
Barton Park House is a farmhouse dating to the mid-18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with a hipped roof covered in plain tiles, featuring one brick stack and a pitched roof to the rear wing with two brick gable stacks. The house is arranged in an L-shape. A mid-18th century rear wing has a three-bay east-facing elevation. A central, early 19th-century gabled porch provides access, featuring a panelled door and a fanlight above. To the right of the porch is a sash window with a segmented head, and to the left, a pair of 19th-century sash windows also under a segmented head. Above these are two sash windows with segmented heads, situated either side of a blocked window with a segmented head.
The early 19th-century front range displays a symmetrical three-bay south elevation, with the central bay projecting forward. A 20th-century hipped roof open porch provides a central entrance. Inside, the entrance hall contains an open-well oak staircase with a carved tread ends, a wreathed handrail, and stick balusters. A segmental arch, with a reeded surround, spans the hall. Reeding details the cornices and door surrounds in two front rooms. A room at the rear features an inglenook fireplace and exposed beams, including stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
