Description
Sapperton Manor is a farmhouse that dates back to the 17th century, with additions from the 18th and 19th centuries. The building is partly timber framed and was extended and encased in brick during the 18th century, with some sections cement rendered in the 19th century. It features a plain tile roof with two brick ridge stacks and one brick stack located in the pitch of the roof.
The south elevation has five bays that are almost symmetrical, with an additional bay to the east. There is an off-centre doorway that has a panelled door and a 19th-century bracketed wooden porch hood. This doorway is flanked by large tripartite casement windows. Above, there are two smaller, similar windows in half dormers. The building has projecting gabled bays on either side, each with 3-light casement windows on both floors. To the right, there is another bay with a lean-to roof on the ground floor and a 2-light casement window above.
Inside, the central part of the house reveals exposed timber framing, and there is an inglenook fireplace in the west room. The hall features a brick floor, and the lower part of the staircase is adorned with 18th-century turned balusters, while the 19th-century panelling adds to the interior detail.
