Description

This is a house dating from around 1850, located on Lower Polsham Road, Paignton, and including attached garden walls and piers. The house is constructed of cement-rendered walls with sections blocked out, and has a turnerised slate roof with gabled ends and rendered chimney shafts. It is slightly set back from the road and situated above it. The house is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical 3-bay front, characterized by deep eaves. A decorative 3-bay timber lattice verandah extends across the front, featuring a glazed hipped roof and three segmental-headed arches. The ground floor has a 20th-century central glazed door flanked by 12-pane sash windows. A blind recess is located centrally on the first floor, flanked by further 12-pane sash windows. The garden walls are constructed from picturesque local red breccia rubble, with a local grey limestone toothed capping. Square section piers, also with toothed capping, are incorporated within the walls. The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to retain features of interest.
