Description

The shippon, located approximately 10 metres west of Home Farmhouse, dates from the late 19th century. It is constructed from stone rubble with brick dressings and features a gable-ended roof covered in Roman tiles. The shippon faces north towards the farmyard and was originally open-fronted. The front is currently blocked with 20th-century concrete blocks beneath weatherboarded timber-framing, and it includes a central doorway flanked by long windows. Inside, there are 20th-century fittings and a 7-bay roof supported by king post trusses. This shippon, along with other buildings in the farmyard, contributes to a particularly attractive group of listed buildings in the well-preserved village and the adjacent Cockington Park. It is included for its group value.
