Shippon Approximately 30 Metres South East Of Lanscombe Farm Cottages

The building is a shippon, now used as stables, located approximately 30 metres south-east of Lanscombe Farm Cottages. It dates from the late 19th century and is constructed of local stone rubble with some secondary brick dressings, topped with a slate roof. The shippon is a wide structure built across a hillslope, slightly terraced into the ground at the rear, and faces north-east towards the farmyard.

The exterior is single-storey, featuring a single window towards the left end that now has a 20th-century casement. To the right, a 20th-century office has been added against the shippon wall. The low-pitched roof is hipped on the left and gabled on the right, with several 20th-century roof lights. There is a doorway at the left (south-east) end, accompanied by a fixed pane 20-pane window. The rear of the building has a series of ventilation slits and a loading hatch.

Inside, the shippon contains 20th-century stalls and a roof supported by A-frame trusses bolted together. This shippon, along with other buildings in the farmyard, contributes to an exceptionally attractive group of listed buildings in the unspoilt village and the adjacent Cockington Park. It is included for its group value.
