Description
This building is a shippon located approximately 10 metres to the south-east of North Stone Farmhouse. It dates from the 18th century and was altered and enlarged in the mid to late 18th century. The structure is made of cob over stone rubble, with later additions in rubble and brick dressings. It has a corrugated-iron roof that is gable-ended to the left and half-hipped to the right.
The shippon has a long range that faces west, with 19th-century additions to the left. The ground falls to the right, and the building is one storey with a loft, higher on the left side. The front is asymmetrical, featuring the 18th-century range with a 20th-century casement window to the right, which was formerly a door, as indicated by the brickwork below. To the left, there is a 19th-century wooden opening and three two-leaf boarded doors at the centre, each with rectangular overlights and wooden lintels. Additionally, there is a 19th-century two-leaf boarded door with a segmental brick head to the left, which is accessed by external steps.
The interior has not been inspected. This shippon is part of a group of farm buildings that includes North Stone Farmhouse.
